About Us Section
We would like to introduce ourselves. We are the de Groot family, Joop, Jennifer, Cody (7), Julia(5) and Josh(2).  Joop sold fitness equipment for 13 years in Illinois, running multiple stores.  But together we always wanted to run our own store and we desperately wanted to live some where by the mountains and the ocean. In July 2004, God gave us our dream. Through one miracle to another, God moved us in September 2004 (2 short months) from Carlinville, IL (a town of 6000 people) to Greenville, SC to start Power Fitness. We are a different kind of store.  Even our name is different. It comes from Eph 3:20 "Now glory be to God! By His mighty power at work within us, He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope." (NLT)
 
We know that no one just wakes up one day saying, "I need to run on a treadmill today". No, you wake up saying "I want to lose weight" or "Gosh, I just don't have the energy that I used to have" or maybe, "I want to improve my golf swing" or the hard option, the Doctor says, "You have to get your health under control".
